The Grand Rapids brass foundry set a new annual record for cast impellers, all machined in-house to MEPCO specifications.

The Grand Rapids brass foundry poured its 10,000th impeller of the year in late October, a record for the facility. Every casting is machined and dynamically balanced in the same building before it goes into a pump.

Casting in-house lets MEPCO hold impeller specifications that have been exclusive to the company since the 1950s, and trim impellers to order for exact duty points.

The foundry also pours trap bodies and valve components for the steam specialties line.

“The impeller is the pump. We have never wanted to buy that from someone else.” OPERATIONS, 44TH STREET
